About Prof. Ofer Mintz

Dr. Ofer Mintz is Associate Professor of Marketing and Associate Head (External Engagement) of the Marketing Department at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Business School. Ofer is also a Visiting Associate Professor of Marketing at the Coller School of Management at Tel Aviv University.
 

In addition, Ofer is a Research Associate at the Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) and author of The Post-Pandemic Business Playbook: Customer-Centric Solutions to Help Your Firm Grow.

Professional Summary

Ofer's research and teaching focuses on marketing metrics, analytics, and strategies, in addition to digital marketing and marketing's role in start-up firms. He has presented invited research talks on five continents, published research in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Marketing Science, Journal of International Business Studies, and International Journal of Research in Marketing, and been awarded grants from several academic-practitioner organizations.

 

Ofer was the first (& so far only) Australian-based scholar to have his research win the Buzzell Award "greatest impact on marketing thought and practice" over the past two years by the Marketing Science Institute (in 2021), awarded for research w/Tim Gilbride, Imran Currim, and Peter Lenk identifying the right metric(s) for the right marketing-mix decision. In addition, Ofer, along with his co-authors, was nominated as a finalist for the Buzzell Award by the Marketing Science Institute in 2019 for research examining drivers of metric use for marketing decisions in 16 countries. 

Currently, Ofer is quite passionate about helping firms employ customer-centric growth strategies to navigate through the COVID-19 new normal and helping policy makers create more effective vaccine communication strategies. He has written The Post-Pandemic Business Playbook: Customer-Centric Solutions to Help Your Firm Grow and published research on the topic that has appeared in press such as the World Economic Forum, Forbes, Harvard Business School Working Knowledge, and Smart Company. In addition, he has provided advice to leading policy makers in Australia and the US on vaccine marketing strategies.

Ofer is active in many academic and managerial endeavors involving marketing analytics, digital marketing and start-up firms. He was an invited delegate on an Australian Innovation Trade Mission to the USA led by Tesla Chairwoman Robyn Denholm, which led to an opportunity to visit and talk with executives from leading tech firms in the Silicon Valley and Seattle regions. Further, Ofer has been a judge for the Australian Space Design Competition and the UTS Business School representative for an industry networking event between Australian and Israeli businesses that featured the President of Israel.

Ofer is also quite passionate about teaching. He has won teaching awards for his classes on digital marketing, marketing management, and international marketing, and his teaching efforts have been highlighted by the media. Ofer truly values connecting, mentoring, and keeping in touch with current and former students on three different continents, and loves bringing back former students (and other industry specialists) to help current students.

Ofer has lived in four countries on three continents, is a dual Israeli-American citizen and an Australian permanent resident, and loves to travel. He is also a massive sports, beach, and history fan. He often uses these diverse global experiences to facilitate teaching and research.

Prior to working at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in Australia, he taught at Louisiana State University (LSU) and the University of California-Irvine (UCI) in the USA, and Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya in Israel. Ofer earned his PhD in Marketing from the Merage School of Business at the University of California-Irvine, MSc in (Quantitative) Finance from Birkbeck College at the University of London, and a BBA in Marketing at the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University.
